Tracking & Reflective Responses in Child-Centered Play Therapy
Course DescriptionThe presenters in this course cover the foundation of play therapy: tracking and reflective responses. Participants will learn to distinguish the difference between these essential child-centered play therapy tools, and will hear from experienced play therapists how these responses are used in session. Participants will also learn how these subtle communication techniques help build positive and strong connections with children, and also help child learn more about their emotions and actions.
In this course, participants will learn the most basic, albeit necessary and sufficient, play therapy skills to engage children (from infancy through the elementary grades) in play therapy. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1.) Identify reflection of feeling listening skills
2.) Articulate the importance of both tracking and reflection of feeling in play therapy play therapy
3.) Modify reflection of feeling statements so they are developmentally suitable to children in play therapy.
